One day, it will all make sense.

Look at the image below. What do you see?

Many of you will look at this image and look at it simply as just a gas station, which I can completely understand, but to me it's so much more. I'll always remember where I was emotionally this night. The image itself is just a reminder for where I found my self. I may never come back again, or maybe one day I will and I'll feel completely different from where I was this night, and that's powerful to me. That to me is what makes photography so beautiful! When everything becomes less technical and more emotional that's where the connection between you, your work and your audience becomes inseparable.

Art as a whole, but photography specifically has taught me so many life lessons. I want to share them all because they've helped me grow and push forward. Maybe my stories can help someone. I'm by no means where I want to be myself, but maybe together we can help and support each other.

The lesson to share from the image above is this: Sometimes in life we over look things, and pass up the opportunity to understand or connect. We scroll through Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter viewing thousands of written posts, photographs, videos, memes, etc. and often give them no further thought. How cool would it be if we were to actually engage with our followers and online friends? To actually have meaningful conversation, provide some feeling of support and help for those who are really hurting out there, or even take it a step further and invite someone out to lunch just have a face to face conversation, wouldn't that be amazing? We are in the age of the Internet. Social media is the fairly new platform for where we share stories, jokes, ideas and follow new people. We're being exposed to more ideas, cultures and people then any generation ever before! So why do I feel that our world is still so disconnected?

I don't know that answer. It could be a multitude of things. This is part of the reason I've started this blog. I don't want to just take cool pictures and post them for you guys to tell me they look good and get a lot of likes. I want to connect with you all! I want to share my life with you so that we can engage in meaningful conversation. I'm not afraid to expose my life, insecurities and all, if it sparks something in someone to want connect with me, and fell like they have someone to relate to. I want to be as honest as possible with my images, because that is the only way to create relatable content. I'm not only growing as a artist by sharing these pictures, but I'm growing as a man! These are my real life experiences.

I would love for you guys to consider this! When you share pictures on Instagram, share you location on Facebook, tweet about a movie you just saw whatever it may be, challenge yourself to share what the places and experience really mean to you and be honest about the impact it may have had or your life. Share anything that you feel is thought provoking or helpful to those around you. If you see someone who need help, stress out or hurting, reach out to that person! We need that kind of support! Together, we can create newsfeeds and timelines that are more positive, honest and filled with love. I know we're more than capable of doing that, so let's get to it!
