Preparation & Studying takes up a good portion of my day. With shoots coming up, due dates for school assignments and the miscellaneous, I have to stay on top of things!
I'm a huge fan of fashion magazines because they have the best images! The amount of pre production and post editing that goes into each single image is truly amazing! I aspire to work with creatives, such as the artists in these magazines, to create beautiful portraits. I try my best to figure out how each image was constructed and what I would need to recapture each one, which allows me to inspires me apply each method into my shoots! Fashion photographers are masters of lighting and posture. When you put 2 & 2 together, how could you not create a beautiful image?
I first heard about 'The Architecture of Happiness' through Tom, from '500 days of Summer'. It's the scene where Tom is on a train, heading to a coworkers wedding and Summer, after not seeing her for a while, interrupted him from reading this book. At the time of me watching this movie (probably my 11th time watching it, because it's one of my favorite movies), I was considering going to school to become a architect. Tom just so happened to be an Architect as well, so I figure it most be good! I'm only about 70 pages in, but I'm learning so much! This book is partially related to the historical aspect of architecture and the "psychological place" that architecture & a particular space, can put you in. Both sides of the story make for a great book! Personally I'm reading this because I believe that the understanding of Architecture is beneficial to me as a photographer! It's partially inspiring and can also help tell the story that I want to share. Also, I often forget (and I'm sure some of you can relate) how truly amazing some of our cities our! Like I pass through downtown St. Louis a few times a month throughout different shoots and I often take for granted how much time and construction has gone into building such a place. I'm starting to appreciate the history of each building; How each building looks a little different after so many years of holding up, and their purpose has been changed and redesigned. Our interaction with various spaces may go unnoticed because it's natural, but it place a huge role in how we go about our daily lives. It's really interesting stuff! I'll be sure to update you guys on this book and maybe even write a review on it.
