I've begun producing work for my project 'Across the Bridge'. The pose of the couple in the image below was borrowed from a image I saw of the statue of King Menkaure and his Queen. I was attracted to the way the Pharaoh remained masculine while accepting the embrace of his lady. As a contemporary response, I believe I've made a strong attempt to tackle core issues of hyper-masculinity in my attempt to deconstruct it.
