MetaQuest x Soul Sessions
Design Strategy + Production Design
Art Direction + VR Spatial Conception
An immersive intimate concert and interview series featuring Lucky Daye, Umi, and Serpent with Feet celebrating the legacy of Black music in America.
Bringing the live stage to virtual head sets globally, we amplified the space around the performance to enhance the viewer's engagement. We designed three studio rooms and a main studio to have a cohesive, yet distinct themes to reflect each artist's individuality for a Juneteenth VR music celebration.
MAIN STUDIO
Black Joy + Freedom in Juneteenth
The main stage for Soul Sessions was designed as an immersive environment honoring Juneteenth, celebrating freedom, resilience, and Black creative legacy. Built around the three featured artists, Lucky Daye, UMI, and serpentwithfeet, the space brings together themes of warmth, groove, and hand-made expression to create a shared visual foundation.
Sculptural boxes form the core of the stage, representing the building blocks of Black history and resourcefulness. Each surface features textures, imagery, and vibrant colors with motifs symbolizing strength and creation. We utilized greenery to extend beyond the boxes to enhance depth in VR, while the boxes themselves suggest the body as a container, holding individual stories, memory, and collective experience.

ARTIST 1
Lucky Daye
Lucky Daye’s studio set reimagines the signature box structure through a lens of luxury, soul, and texture, drawing inspiration from his New Orleans roots. Wrapped in tactile materials like fur, velvet, and leather, the boxes soften the geometry of the space, while jewel tones bring warmth, depth, and a sense of earned richness.
Layered rugs, organic patterns, sculptural 3D forms, & a 15 ft. gold durag add movement and rhythm throughout the studio space. Subtle crown and jewel motifs nod to legacy and self-worth, creating a studio that feels smooth, funky, and timeless - a tactile extension of Lucky Daye’s sound.

ARTIST 2
UMI
UMI’s studio set was envisioned as a soft, ethereal environment rooted in nature, warmth, and emotional freedom. Butterflies, flowing drapery, and gentle candlelight reference transformation and care, while plants, branches, and florals ground the space in organic, earthy elements.
The transparent half globes holding the moss & butterflies represent vessels of lightness and openness, echoing the idea that beauty - like a butterfly - cannot be captured, only experienced. A sky of clouds and airy light completed the space, creating an atmosphere that felt tender, sweet, and expansive.

ARTIST 3
serpentwithfeet
serpentwithfeet’s studio set was designed with intentional minimalism, allowing raw emotion, texture, and process to remain visible. Built around the shared box structure, the space embraces restraint, pairing sculptural forms with exposed production elements, including sound boards and control panels. By leaving the tools of creation in view, the environment honors vulnerability, honesty, and the act of making itself.
Natural textures and greenery soften the technical surfaces, creating a quiet contrast between organic life and structured machinery. This balance of nature and technology mirrors serpentwithfeet’s sound - intimate, experimental, and deeply human. The result is a studio that feels grounded yet striking, proving that impact can exist in subtlety and intention.
